Origins & Iconic Collections
The company was founded by two Belgian opticians, Patrick Hoet and Wim Somers, and still remains a family business. The founders aimed to create something truly different from the mainstream eyewear of the time. So in 1987, the first series of outstanding Theo glasses saw the world. From then on, each new collection has held to the brand's core passion: breaking boundaries and rewriting the eyewear playbook.

The groundbreaking Eye-Witness glasses strike with their seemingly unfinished, asymmetrical lines; they're the creation of the founder, Patrick Hoet, who continues to design today. For instance, the Gears eyewear family is inspired by the rhythm of movement and classic bicycle parts, while Bourbon Way frames take cues from the vintage Portes-cles de Bourbon plexiglass keychains from the 1960s–70s.
