Givenchy is the quintessence of modern Parisian elegance; the world-renowned luxury brand synonymous with fine craftsmanship and distinctive artful designs. For over 70 years, the fashion house has been creating haute couture clothing, perfumes and accessories that have been flaunted by the rich and the famous celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Princess Grace of Monaco. Today, Givenchy is still one of the top global brands that dresses many Hollywood stars, including Lady Gaga, Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Julia Roberts, Rooney Mara, and others. Since 2020, the House has been run by Matthew Williams, a stylist and designer who brought an edgier aesthetic to Givenchy. An intuitive understanding of tailoring and technology makes the designer an ideal person for carrying the brand’s legacy forward with power and modernity.
In addition to apparel, shoes and fine fragrances, Givenchy offers a comprehensive range of high-end sunglasses and optical frames. At the beginning of 2022, the Parisian couture label, owned by LVMH, has decided to license its eyewear collections to Thélios, the joint-venture company set up by LVMH with Italian manufacturer Marcolin to internalize eyewear development and production for the luxury group’s many labels. The first Givenchy Eyewear Collection created by Thélios was presented in Spring 2022. By combining the unique identity of the French House with an unmistakable Italian savoir-faire, the partnership has resulted in exciting eyewear pieces that took Givenchy to a new level in this product category. Each frame within the collection features the brand’s iconic signature codes such as the 4G emblem.
Founded in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy, the fashion brand has quickly grown through the decades into one of the most influential fashion houses. Recognized by its refined yet distinctive style, Givenchy eyewear is popular among fashion divas and celebrities around the globe. The frames were seen on Kim Kardashian, Irina Shayk, Hailey Baldwin, Kate Middleton, Angelina Jolie, Jenifer Lopez, and many others. Featuring architectural shapes and deep classic colors, each pair of the Givenchy sunglasses and optical frames is a work of fine craftsmanship. The iconic 4G metal detail and GIVENCHY signature at the temples gives these frames a touch of glamor. Crafted from premium-grade bio acetate and metal, Givenchy glasses are complemented with modern and sophisticated detailing.
The new Givenchy 2022 eyewear collection designed by creative director Matthew Williams perfectly blends into the House’s global product offer and grants an ultra-modern Givenchy total look. The range includes both classic square, rectangular and oval silhouettes and bold irregular shapes that create a futuristic appearance. Some designs are offered in stylish and alluring colors, including purple, light blue, mint green, and bubble gum. Most styles are made from acetate and metal, though you can also meet the head-turning frames in red quilted leather and cosmic 100% nylon glasses with mirror effect transparent lenses. Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy, the founder of the namesake brand, was born in 1927 in Beauvais, France. At the age of 17, he left his hometown for Paris, to make his dream of becoming a designer come true. There he worked with many top couturiers of the time before he met Elsa Schiaparelli in 1947. Hubert quickly made his way up the ranks and became the artistic director of the Schiaparelli boutique in Place Vendôme in Paris. Later, the designer started to study under the wing of Robert Piguet but he felt the need to create a modern and innovative style and started Givenchy in 1952. As the House continued to make a name for themselves in the fashion world, they established a well-deserved reputation for dazzling designs which garnered the respect of their contemporaries, including A-list celebrities of the time.
Some of Givenchy's most famous designs that became iconic are the ultra-light Baby Doll Dress (presented in 1958), the Balloon Wool Coat (1958) with sloped shoulders and wide silhouette, and the Little Black Dress, a legendary evening gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in the film that won the designer a Best Costume Design Oscar nomination! The latest Givenchy design that sent the world's media and numerous viewers into meltdown was the amazing dress that Meghan Markle wore to marry Prince Harry in 2018. In June of 2020, Givenchy announced the hiring of Matthew Williams, a stylist and designer who has brought an edgier aesthetic to the Fashion House. Today, his works are often seen on celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
