Theo glasses are designed to make you smile every time you put them on. With their playful colors, sculptural lines, daring shapes, and details you will never find in mainstream labels, these optical frames are wearable art that highlights your personality. If you're bored by mass-market sameness, Theo is your love language. Designed in Antwerp, Belgium since 1987, Theo eyewear is just the ticket for creative souls and anyone who sees glasses as a fashion statement.

Theo Eyewear: Colorful, Avant-Garde Frames & Sunglasses

What's special about Theo? Literally everything – from bold designs with geometric shapes and European production to the company's wearer-first philosophy: “Theo loves you.” This motto is the brand's way of saying it's built around you and aims to make you happy through unique eyewear designs. Theo frames are imaginative (round, cat-eye, geometric, oversized, often asymmetric), yet created to be truly comfortable. They're made using premium acetate and metals like lightweight titanium, with finishes that look expressive and feel great to the touch.

Theo optical frame designs are born in Antwerp, Belgium, while production is held in premium European workshops (Jura, France). Many of the Theo eyeglasses are hand-finished to create colorful, unconventional, lasting coatings the brand is known for. The company works with both in-house and external designers, including big names like James Van Vossel, Serge Bracke, Matali Crasset, and Tim Van Steenbergen, while also getting fresh input from talented students of the Fashion Academy in Antwerp. This is how each new collection of Theo glasses frames emerges as truly impressive, innovative, and unique work of art. .

      Origins & Iconic Collections

The company was founded by two Belgian opticians, Patrick Hoet and Wim Somers, and still remains a family business. The founders aimed to create something truly different from the mainstream eyewear of the time. So in 1987, the first series of outstanding Theo glasses saw the world. From then on, each new collection has held to the brand's core passion: breaking boundaries and rewriting the eyewear playbook.

Theo has the right designer frame for every individual out there. The groundbreaking Eye-Witness glasses strike with their seemingly unfinished, asymmetrical lines; they're the creation of the founder, Patrick Hoet, who continues to design today. Each Theo eye glasses line comes with a name that tells a story. For instance, the Gears eyewear family is inspired by the rhythm of movement and classic bicycle parts, while Bourbon Way frames take cues from the vintage Portes-cles de Bourbon plexiglass keychains from the 1960s–70s.
